Game viewing at Sanyati Safari Lodge

Sanyati Gorge, Lake Karina

Enjoy the cool breeze as you glide through the waters of Sanyati Gorge. The Sanyati Gorge is a quiet and brooding ravine well known for its interest to birding enthusiasts and is best explored by boat. This area is also a prime location for angling enthusiasts in pursuit of the famed Tiger Fish - considered by many to be, pound for pound, the hardest fighting freshwater fish in the world.

Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe

There once was a time when Zimbabwe was blessed with every natural asset except one; within its borders were rivers, mountains, deserts and wildlife galore, but being landlocked, the country had no coastline that it could call its own. In 1958, all that changed. With the completion of the Kariba Dam, a jewel of an inland sea was created, two hundred kilometres long and forty wide at its widest. Apart from giving the country much needed hydro-electricity, Lake Kariba now serves as the source of countless pleasures, fishing, water skiing, and sailing among them. The wildlife on the banks is also a sight to behold. Elephant, buffalo, rhino and a host of smaller game are abundant, while the waters of the lake itself support more than forty different species of fish, as well as hippo and crocodiles.

Matusadonna National Park, Zimbabwe

Sanyati Lodge's location on the eastern side of the Sanyati Gorge offers easy access to Matusadona National Park, renowned for it's appeal as a quiet and secluded wilderness area with an abundance of game and prolific birdlife. Each expedition will bring you close to a wonderful diversity of wildlife. Matusadona is well recognised for its concentration of lion and for the fact that it's one of the last remaining wild sanctuaries of the endangered black rhino.

Aside from the opportunity to view big game on foot, the area has a fascinating variety of insects, plants, small mammals, reptiles and birds. Game drives and boat cruises are also conducted on the flood plains and shoreline where the game congregates.

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

'The Smoke that Thunders'.  Without doubt, Victoria Falls constitutes one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. Visitors can gaze at the mighty Zambezi as it flows, broad and placid, to the brink of a basalt lip seventeen hundred meters wide before taking a headlong plunge into the frothy chasm of the gorge below. This is the world's largest sheet of falling water, yet although its fame has spread far and wide, the site has been tastefully preserved so that visitors do not spoil the magic of the very place they have come to see.
